Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer talks with Rachel Maddow about Donald Trump’s antagonistic tweeting at U.S. intelligence agencies over evidence of Russian hacking.
Rachel Maddow: “The President elect’s latest unsolicited opinon about the intelligence community:”
The “Intelligence” briefing on so-called “Russian hacking” was delayed until Friday, perhaps more time needed to build a case. Very Strange.
Rachel Maddow: “Look at the scare quotes there. ... He’s taking these shots, these taunts at the intelligence community.”
[Senator] Chuck Schumer: “You take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday of getting back at you. So, even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he’s being really dumb to do this.”
Rachel Maddow: “What do you think the intelligence community would do to him?”
[Senator] Chuck Schumer: “I don’t know. But what I am told, they are very upset with how he has treated them and talked about them. We need the intelligence community. We don’t know. Look at the Russian hacking. If not for the intelligence community, we would never have discovered it.”
Rachel Maddow: “Do you think he has an agenda to dismantle parts of the intelligence community with this form of taunting hostility? . . .”
[Senator] Chuck Schumer: whether you are a conservative or super-liberal Democrat, you should be against dismantling the intelligence community.”
